For the last time, Radio DJ Mark Vrijded by bike on Friday by bike to pick up voting lists for the Top 900. And the last kilometers were not the least, because Mark experienced one adventure after the other. For example, he came across the Bakel fair singer Kafke, was given a tour of the Klok & Peel Museum and spoke with a statistician about the most interesting Top 900-Feights. “Brabant is not the most popular province in the list,” he says.

Radio DJs from Omroep Brabant Cycling through our province all week to pick up votes for the Top 900. You can fill in your own list via this link until Friday midnight.

The day started early on Friday for Mark when he had to pick up the bike in Aarle-Rixtel with Wim and Marjan. He cycled over the canal to Helmond where he visited the music plants, where it turned out to be deafening. That is why he cycled in good spirits to Bakel, where the atmosphere was better.

This weekend the fair is bursting there. Between the shooting tent and the booster he bumped into a very special passer -by: singer Kafke. This week the singer from Drunen received a gold record for his hit from Brabant to Bordeaux that he sings together with Frans Bauer.

The artists can count on a listing in the Top 900, but which songs does Kafke actually vote for? “No sad music. I like bands such as BZB and De Heideroosjes, but I also like a Rob de Nijs and Boudewijn de Groot,” he admits Mark.

Once back on the bike, Mark comes across a road deposits, but for the top 900-bicycle they like to make an exception, so the signs are neatly put aside. In this way he arrives on time at the Klok & Peel Museum in Asten, where he gets an extensive tour.

For example, clocks used to be used to experience music. This can still be heard in the museum. The Carillon in the Klokkenmuseum plays the songs ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ by Coldplay and ‘Sweet Caroline’ by Neil Diamond, songs that definitely earn a place in the Top 900.

After a visit to the museum, Mark makes a stop in Nuenen where he talks about his music favorites with Django Wagner. The singer himself naturally hopes in a place in the Brabant list of lists, because his gypsy music should certainly not be missing.

Music Ferses
As icing on the cake, Mark closes his adventure on the couch at Maikel in Eindhoven. He is a statistician who collected facts on all the great music of our country based on data. He knows how to tell a lot about the Top 900.

For example, a total of 2250 numbers have been on the list since the start of the hit list fifteen years ago. Of these, 339 quotations are in the name of male solo artists, 159 in the name of female solo artists, 178 quotations are from duos and 373 rates of bands.

Another special fact is the province where most quotations come from. “And that is not Brabant,” Maikel explains. It is Noord-Holland with 104 quotations. Yet there is still hope for our province, because that is where 102 quotations come from the list.

“If we all vote for Brabant songs, our province is the most popular,” says Mark. Voting for the Top 900 is possible. The DJs of Omroep Brabant are certainly happy that their bike ride is on it.
