Crown Princess of Norway Mette-Marit’s son Marius Borg Høiby29, was sentenced to four years in prison, says VG. He was convicted in the Oslo District Court for, among other things, two counts of rape without intercourse. His ex-partner will also be sentenced Nora Hauklandin about abuse and intimate partner violence.
He was also ordered to restrain one of the victims for two years. Marius also has to pay compensation worth hundreds of thousands of kroner to his four victims. The total amount of compensation is more than 58,000 euros in euros.
Marius is also convicted of a serious drug offense and aggravated assault, says NRK. In addition, Marius is convicted of several traffic violations. He loses his driver’s license for more than a year and has to take another driving test.
Marius was acquitted of four charges. One of them concerns rape with intercourse and the other rape without intercourse.
According to VG, Marius was convicted of 34 different crimes. In the judgment chapter, Judge Jon Sverdrup Efjestad reads parts of the 128-page judgment. The verdict is unanimous.
The judgment is not yet final.
The judge says in court that the enormous media attention the case received is not a mitigating factor in the sentence.
Marius denied the rape charges and other more serious charges, but admitted his guilt to some of the charges. VG’s expert Astrid Melandin it can be assumed that Marius Borg Høiby is not satisfied with the sentence he received for two counts of rape and intimate partner violence. According to the expert, it is possible that both Marius and the prosecutor will appeal the sentence.
He received his sentence at the Oslo courthouse. Marius follows the announcement of the sentence via video link from Ila’s notorious prison in Eiksmarka.
NRKMarius will probably remain in custody. According to the law, the Norwegian police do not have to make a decision on the matter until four weeks after the verdict.
Marius is accused of about 40 crimes, which were discussed in court in February-March. He is accused of, among other things, assaults and rapes. Marius has been imprisoned since February. The prosecutor initially demanded a prison sentence of seven years and seven months for Marius, says NRK.
It was already reported that he will not be seen in court for health reasons.
