In Maria Veitola’s news program, people known from the public arrive at her home as guests. Conversations quickly turn deep, as the environment relaxes the atmosphere.
Supplier Maria Veitola has been seen in the night village with dozens of well-known people in his program Maria Veitola in Yökylä. Now, however, the roles change, because in the new program I took turns as guests, Maria Veitola the celebrities visit the Veitola family’s home in Punavuori.
However, the program is slightly different from the Yökylässe concept. The guests do not stay overnight at Veitola’s home, but visit it for the day. Veitola tells Iltalehte at the program’s media conference that she and the director of the Yökylässe program have discussed several times how nice it was to visit public figures and that there would be more to talk about.
– We thought about whether we really need to start the night village tour from the beginning. Then we figured, what if they came to me. This also differs in that in the Yökylässä program we get to know their lives and do things that are important and dear to them, such as work, leisure activities and hobbies, says Veitola.
Veitola says that guests have been taken from several different seasons of Yökylässe. – It’s been eight years since we spent the night with some of them, a lot of things have happened in that time, Veitola recalls. Pete Anikari
Housework and fleas
The new program does not directly introduce Veitola’s everyday life and life, but the guests arrive at her home and their conversations continue where they left off in the Yökylässe program.
During the day, Veitola and her guests do various activities, such as enjoying good food and drink and visiting flea markets.
– We did exactly the same things as with my own friends. None of them had visited us before. I showed them the home, then who paid more attention and who less. Yes, I had something to offer everyone.
Veitola says that one of the guests helped her with the housework. Pete Anikari
With the Prime Minister
Prime Minister Sanna Marin, a rap artist, arrive at Veitola’s home in the news program For VilleGasinger Kaija Koo, ex-ice hockey player Jere Karalahti, actors Eija Vilpas and Hannele Lauri, TV personality and actress Mikko Leppilampiartist Alma, ex-MP Jani Toivola, entrepreneur couple Jutta and Juha Larm and the late hill jumper Matti Nykänen widow Pia Nykänen.
The program also features Veitola’s son The battle and his friends Anttiwho get to talk with Sanna Marini about the things that concern them.
Veitola says that she is excited about every guest. According to him, the arrival of all the guests at his home was equally exciting.
– I was asked if, for example, the arrival of Sanna Marin makes me more excited, but no. All of them were equally excited, but fortunately I already knew them all from previous overnight visits and that’s why I wanted to invite them to my home, Veitola says excitedly.
– I really like Sanna and it’s really wonderful to be with her. It was just wonderful to see, he continues, describing the Prime Minister.
Safe place
Veitola describes the series as a talk show filmed in his home. He states that in a home environment, in a safe environment, the conversations and topics are clearly more in-depth than they would be in a program filmed in a studio.
– The fact that you get to someone else’s home is some kind of proof of appreciation and trust. Your home is such a safe place and that’s why it’s easy to relax there. In the TV studio, you rarely walk around in your pajamas without makeup, Veitola laughs.
Veitola appreciates its guests throwing themselves into its programs. – It’s a really big deal that someone takes me into their home, he says. Pete Anikari
Veitola was happy to welcome guests into his own home. He says that the cleaner went to do the usual cleaning, but all the items were in familiar places. So no other special preparations have been made for the arrival of guests.
– Various piles are my standard elements at home. They have had to be cleared so that people can lie down and sit on the couch. I didn’t mow or put things in place, but as it was, I moved the pile to another place. Not a single prop was brought, he reveals.
Veitola says that sometimes guests even forget to film a TV program during the visit. This is also influenced by the fact that the program’s work group is small and intimate.
– I myself was surprised by how big, sensitive and wild topics we had in our conversations, Veitola concludes with a smile.
