Marcus & Martinus wants to represent Sweden at Eurovision in Liverpool.

Norwegian twins Marcus & Martinus are a duo that made their breakthrough in 2012. The twins from Elverum were only 10 years old at the time.

Lapsiduo aroused outright hysteria in the Nordic countries, the band also visited Finland several times to perform. They performed in giant arenas, such as the then Hartwall Arena and Kaisaniemi Park. In 2019, their concert at the Bolt Arena in Töölö attracted as many as 15,000 fans.

Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen are now 20-year-old young men and they are aiming for a place in Eurovision.

Even though the brothers are Norwegian, to the surprise of many, they are trying to get to the show as Sweden’s representatives.

So far, everything has gone according to the twins’ plans, because last Saturday they made it through the third heat of Melodifestivalen directly to the final.

– In terms of timing, it is better to apply for visas as representatives of Sweden than as representatives of Norway. It might sound funny, but we have recently done more work in Sweden than in Norway, Marcus told SVT in an interview.

For example, they won Sweden’s Masked Singer last year and the duo has also appeared in other Swedish shows.

– I hope we get to Liverpool and win in Sweden, Martinus said.

Marcus and Martinus’ decision to represent Sweden has been met with mixed feelings in Norway. When it became clear that they made it to the final from the preliminary round, the Norwegians started to cheer.

Aftonbladet tells how their social media accounts were flooded with messages in which Norwegians mocked Sweden for seeing Norwegians in the final.

The final of Melodifestivalen takes place on March 11.
