Well, that was a disappointment: Marco Louwerens, also known as Director, was not in good shape this year as Sinterklaas at Today Inside. It is raining critical reactions on social media.
It has been a tradition for years that ‘director’ Marco Louwerens comes storming into the Today Inside studio on or around Christmas Eve with a miter on his head and then makes bawdy jokes. This year’s performance brought vicarious embarrassment for many viewers, because many jokes were really not funny at all.
‘What a sadness!’
The critical reactions keep pouring in on social media, which raises the question: will Marco still be there next year as VI-Sinterklaas? “The expiration date of this Klaas has expired, so throw it away…” says a certain Klaas under one X post from the SBS 6 talk show.
Kimmie: “The sad loss of what was once so much fun: Sinterklaas evening with the men. My goodness, what a shame.”
Very nice
Niels finds it embarrassing how the VI editors keep throwing around fragments of that Sinterklaas performance on the social media. “The editors of Today Inside keep posting desperate tweets that Sinterklaas was a lot of fun…NOT!”
And Chupa: “It was really disappointing, as they often say: starting to believe in themselves too much.”
Pity
A certain René also doesn’t understand why VI is pumping out countless fragments, while it wasn’t fun at all. “I feel sorry for the intern who now has to pretend this was really funny all the time.”
Another person: “For years I sat down for it: Sinterklaas with the men. Geeezzz it was disappointing this year. I couldn’t even smile about it… There was nothing fun, sharp, but very long-winded. Even the presents were not nice.”
