The Marco Borsato process coincides exactly with the elections in our country in the fall, but is that not awkward for the Dutch press? “Well, what are you doing about it? Nothing!”
It was a big relief for everyone involved: a few weeks ago it became clear that the Marco Borsato process is going on. When? The session days are planned for Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 October. The Dutch press will be fully present on those days in the courthouse in Utrecht, or not?
“What are you doing about it?”
Possibly the Borsato process will be snowed under by the election struggle, because the Electoral Council advised on Wednesday 29 October for the polls day now that the Shovel cabinet has fallen. Why only so late? Because there is first an autumn holiday for it and there may not be enough volunteers available for the ski counter.
Anyway: this does not work out well for the press, says Evert Santegoeds. “Yes, what do you want to do about it? The Electoral Council does not take the process of Marco Borsato into account and the date of Marco was already certain,” says the editor -in -chief of Weekblad Privé in the podcast Strictly private.
A lot of news
The Marco process will not be moved to please the press, Evert thinks. “They are happy that they have two session days in court, because they are overcrowded and that is also apparent from the fact that there is a day in between, because then there was no place again.”
He continues: “By that time there is a lot of news, both for politically interested people and for showbiz junkies. It will be fighting for priority, because it will be a big business if he finally stands in front of the bench.”
Is he happy?
Co-host Jordi Versteegden can also imagine that Marco is happy with this, because he will not be the most important news in that week. “Would he be happy with that message? Is it going to overshadow the other?”
Evert concludes: “Yes, well and, what do you do against it? Nothing!”
