José Luis Manzano and Daniel Vila make up one of the most enduring and discreet partnerships in the Argentine business ecosystem. Their alliance, forged three decades ago, is based on a unique combination: Manzano’s political experience and capacity for territorial articulation, added to Vila’s commercial nose and early media infrastructure. It is not a minor link: Vila was Manzano’s first employer in Mendoza, when the former Minister of the Interior took his first steps in consulting and the current president of Grupo América hired him and built his radio and cable network in Cuyo.
Over the years, the two transformed that initial relationship into a partnership that essentially encompasses energy and media. Together they consolidated Grupo América, one of the most influential conglomerates in the country, with a presence on open television, cable signals, radio and digital platforms. The last movement that once again showed the strength of the tandem was the recent purchase of Telefe, a high-impact operation that reconfigures the television map.
