The situation of Manuëla Kemp (61) is hopeless after five weeks in a coma. The presenter will be transferred to the Netherlands to die here. “Too much has been damaged,” she says.
The scooter accident that Manuëla Kemp had five weeks ago in the Portuguese Algarve ultimately proved fatal. She has been in a coma since then and the situation has not improved. “The end is in sight,” says her husband Tjerk Lammers Private. “The damage only became really clear after EEG and MRI scans and that is not easy.”
Fate sealed
The part of the brain that controls the vital parts still works. “But the part that makes a person a person, and therefore Moon, is gone. That no longer functions and her fate is now sealed. After the blow of the accident and five weeks in the ICU, the damage is so extensive that it has been determined that we will have to let her go.”
It has now been decided to remove Manuela from intensive care. “And transfer her to medium carewhere she is now actually in the same condition as she has been in recent weeks.”
Back to the Netherlands
Manuela will return to his own country. “The intention is to transfer her to the Netherlands with EuroCross, but that is – and I can hardly say it yet – to let her die in the Netherlands.”
A date will be chosen on Monday. “Too much has been damaged and therefore there is simply no hope left. I’m going to lose her twice. The first time was yesterday, and again later when she dies.”
