Manuel Venderbos has not been seen in Shownieuws for over six months after his statements about studio guest Tino Martin. What exactly is going on? “I have been suspended indefinitely.”
It was certainly entertaining: Manuel Venderbos revealed in June that Tino Martin had been dismissed from the Shownieuws advertisement because of his drunken babble and inappropriate statements about Suzan & Freek, but the weak editor-in-chief was not happy about that at all. Cuddling with the stars is their trademark, so Manuel had to get out.

Worse still: Shownieuws simply chose camp Tino Martin and decided to portray Manuel as a liar. Quite lame, but the presenter was not allowed to say anything more about it.
What is the current situation now, six months later? “As a freelancer, I simply should not have talked in a podcast from another client about something that happened behind the scenes at another client,” he responds in the AD Media Podcast.
Suspended
What is Manuel’s status now at Shownieuws? “I’m suspended indefinitely and that lasts a little longer than Jimmy Kimmel, so to speak. It’s not forever, so I still have secret hope for 2026.”
He thinks it’s lame how the program is set up. “I immediately took my responsibility. I really thought: we are going to have a good conversation about this and then we will close it, but unfortunately there was no room for that.”
Strict
Afterwards, Manuel also lashes out at Shownieuws’ decision to support the Tino camp. “Being strict is fine, but then you also have to be strict with yourself and honest in a press release.”
“What I especially want to say about it: it was three fantastic years. It was supposed to be three months and it turned into three years. I had a lot of fun doing it and it’s a shame that it ended like this.”
