Shienbone guards from Carbon split the Alpine Ski World Cup last year. Some drivers sat on it. Some with success, some without.
They were considered a possible “miracle weapon” in the World Cup: shin guards made of carbon, on which overall World Cup winner Marco Odermatt. In the meantime, they have been banned by the FIS ski association. Manuel Feller doesn’t mind because he unsuccessfully put her on her last season.
“Until I realized that this was the wrong way, it was already too late,” the Tyrolean told the Austrian medium “Laola1.at”. “We stiffened to the carbon rails because we meant that we can get again for half a second faster.” While things were going well in training, the schooners braked him in the race. “If I’m too tight at the gate, I lock my movement and then my skiing is just bad,” said Feller.
The step backwards compared to the pre -season was clear. In the 2023/24 season, Feller still dominated the slalom, won four races and secured the small crystal ball. A year later, he only came on the podium twice and only ended two slalom races. He completed the overall slalom ranking to tenth tenth-a clear damper after the triumph before.
After a difficult winter with many failures, the view is now directed to the front. The slalom specialist also wants to attack again in the giant slalom: “I would like to end my giant slalom career with a positive experience.”
A career end is currently not up for the debate for the 32-year-old: “As it is now, I still dare three or four good seasons in the slalom.” Before that, however, the summer break is pending – with a visit to the festival and family vacation in Greece.
