Manchester City increases the pressure on Liverpool FC

Defending champions Manchester City have increased the pressure on Liverpool FC in the English Premier League. Team manager Pep Guardiola’s team won 1-0 (1-0) at AFC Bournemouth and reduced the gap to leaders Liverpool to one point.

Phil Foden (24th) scored the Champions League winner’s goal. After the break, Bournemouth missed some good opportunities.

Liverpool will face Chelsea in the League Cup final in London on Sunday (4 p.m.). Team manager Jürgen Klopp could win the Reds’ first title after his departure announcement.

Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner celebrated a win on his Premier League debut. Eintracht Frankfurt’s ex-coach won 3-0 (0-0) with Crystal Palace against newly promoted FC Burnley, coached by Vincent Kompany. That gave the Londoners some breathing room in the relegation battle.

Record champions Manchester United experienced disappointment. Fulham, sixth in the table, lost 1:2 (0:0) at home.

Although Harry Maguire (89th) made it 1-1 late on, Alex Iwobi (90th + 7) shocked the hosts deep into stoppage time. Calvin Bassey (65th) had previously given the London team the lead.
