Most of the operations under the trainer

Ex-DFB captain İlkay Gündoğan would like to start a coaching career as an assistant to Pep Guardiola-but only in a few years. “I feel that I enjoy football a lot: not just for another year, but at least two years, maybe even three or four years,” said the “Sport Bild” professional. “I think of what comes after that. But I’m not afraid of these thoughts, rather a certain anticipation. But my body is still involved.”
“Being an assistant coach of PEP would be extremely attractive for me,” said Gündoğan, who played as many games under the 54-year-old as not under any other coach. He hasn’t asked him yet, “but there is probably no better than starting as an assistant from PEP: the examples have shown that in recent years, that can pave the way for a coaching career.” Gündoğan already has the B-trainer license.
Gündoğan’s contract with Manchester City last extended automatically until 2026. After a year, he played for the club from the Premier League again at FC Barcelona. After the season in Spain, it was the case “that I felt that I was better – I also felt that the club, despite mine, as I found, they are, especially for financial reasons. And I am someone who does not simply sit out such a contract to cause problems,” said Gündoğan.
After the change of coaching to ex-national coach Hansi Flick, he expected a more intensive exchange, “but that was actually no longer the case because the club apparently had other plans.”
At Man City, Gündoğan has 47 missions and two goals as well as five templates this season. As the oldest field player in the squad, he is at 2,994 minutes and has it with most.
