Manager leaves after less than a year

Van de Velde appoints CFO Karel Verlinde as interim boss. He takes over from Peter Corijn, who has only been in charge of the Belgian lingerie retailer since May.

Verlinde will assume his temporary position effective immediately, the parent company of brands including PrimaDonna, Marie Jo and Andres Sarda announced on Wednesday. Corijn is leaving the company “by mutual consent”.

With Verlinde, an “insider” who has guided the company through difficult times in recent years with former CEO Marleen Vaesen is taking the helm. In his new position, he will work closely with the management team to ensure the continued execution of strategic plans, the statement said.

“Peter and the Board of Directors have jointly come to the conclusion that Peter’s expectations are not in line with Van de Velde’s internal expectations and wishes. It was therefore decided to quickly provide clarity within the company,” said Herman Van de Velde, Chairman of the Board of Directors, about the change in leadership.”

Karel Verlinde has been CFO at Van de Velde for more than three years. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Group Controller at IVC Group, a manufacturer of luxury vinyl tiles, according to his Linkedin profile.
