Management restructuring – 37 management positions eliminated

The Dutch fashion department store De Bijenkorf is restructuring its store management and cutting 37 management positions.

The restructuring of Bijenkorf shop management is intended to achieve a better experience for customers and more efficiency, Bijenkorf announced on Tuesday.

The management is aware that these changes are a difficult process for everyone involved and regrets the necessity of these measures. The employees should be supported by a social plan, according to the statement. The aim is to maintain a “premium service standard” and to operate the business across the board.

Only on Friday did the Dutch fashion department store announce slightly positive results for the 2022 financial year. Sales rose above the pre-Corona level of 2019, but increased costs, including for personnel, weighed on the result. In February, De Bijenkorf withdrew from the German and French-speaking markets.
