The man had hidden the animals in his jacket, pockets and with his private parts, US Customs and Border Protection said in a statement. In total, nine snakes and 43 horned lizards were seized. According to the authorities, some of the animals are endangered, AP reports.
The man was trying to cross the border from Mexico in a truck in the town of San Ysidro when he was detained for inspection, authorities said on Tuesday.
