Man from Emmer-Compascuum is arrested after a chase in Emmen. Police seize narcotics and possibly firearm

A 48-year-old man from Emmer-Compascuum was arrested on Friday evening after a violent chase in Emmen and Emmer-Compascuum. Police seized a quantity of narcotics and a possible firearm.

Officers saw the man driving in Emmen and wanted to check the vehicle. The driver ignored the following sign and a chase was started. ,,This chase went over the industrial estate in Emmen. On the Oostelijke Koppelveenweg in Emmer-Compascuum, the man got out, left his car and fled on foot into the farmlands,” said spokesperson Thijs Damstra of the Northern Netherlands Police.

Police helicopter and sniffer dog

According to Damstra, a police helicopter and a sniffer dog were deployed to find the man, who had ended up in a ditch. “The man was first taken to the hospital because he had hypothermia symptoms. The man was taken into custody after discharge from the hospital. He is being interrogated today.”
