On Sunday evening around 6:30 PM, the Tielt fire brigade had to respond to a call in Deken Darraslaan in Tielt. A man had put a pot on the stove in his apartment, but fell asleep on the couch. Alert neighbors suddenly noticed smoke and immediately called the fire brigade.
The fire brigade itself quickly had everything under control. “When we arrived, the man was still sleeping, so we had to break down the door. The fire was quickly brought under control, we hardly had to use water,” the fire brigade explains.
The man was taken to hospital for evaluation.
