During a boat trip, a 56-year-old fell into the water on the Oberuckersee in the Uckermark and died.

Rescue workers had rescued him, attempts at resuscitation were in vain, as the police in Frankfurt/Oder announced on Tuesday. The emergency doctor could only determine his death.

The accident happened near Warnitz on Monday evening when the man and his 55-year-old companion wanted to change their position. He fell overboard and initially tried in vain to get back into the boat.

The woman then went into the water and tried to help. Eventually, the man obviously had lost his strength, so he went under water.

The exact cause of death has yet to be determined.
