The National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the death of a 38-year-old man from Geldrop. He died on Friday evening after police officers tried to get the man under control. He may have been in a psychosis, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) reported on Saturday.

The man destroyed his own house at the Wilgenhof in Geldrop. Emergency services went to the address and saw the man in a psychotic state. The man resisted violently when officers tried to get him under control. Ambulance staff also took care of the man.

The man was resuscitated and taken to hospital, but died a short time later. What exactly caused his death is being investigated. “The investigation into the man’s death is led by the National Criminal Investigation Department, which, among other things, investigates the role of the police,” the Public Prosecution Service said on Saturday afternoon.

There are indications that the man had used drugs and alcohol.
