Passers-by rescued a man from the Spree near the East Side Gallery on Tuesday evening. The emergency doctor and emergency paramedics fought for the life of the man for an hour – in the end in vain.

Around midnight, the fire brigade was alerted to the East Side Gallery on the Spree: According to initial findings, a man fell into the Spree. The cause of the fall was initially unclear.

According to initial information, people present on the shore then pulled the man out of the water.

Helpers fought for the man’s life for an hour

A fight for the life of the man now began on the shore: Emergency doctor, emergency paramedic and firefighters alternately resuscitated the unconscious person. But after an hour, the rescuers had to give up the fight. The man died on the banks of the Spree.

A man present had to be looked after by the emergency services, he burst into tears. Several witnesses who had alerted the fire brigade were questioned on site by the police about the tragic incident.

The Berlin police have started the investigation into the accident on site.
