Man died after falling into water in Ostend

At about 1:45 p.m., things went wrong. The man ended up in the water at the Sir Winston Churchillkaai in Ostend. The man would have fallen when he was on his way to a boat on the pontoon. Perhaps he landed with his head on the pontoon, eventually the man fell into the water. According to the first findings, it is therefore an accidental death.

“The exact circumstances are indeed still being examined,” said the shipping police. The man was rescued relatively quickly, but when the emergency services arrived it soon became clear that the situation was serious. He received the necessary care on the spot, although his situation was worrying. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he died of his injuries a short time later. The public prosecutor’s office has been informed to look into the case further.
