On Thursday, the police arrested a 24-year-old man in Badhoevedorp on suspicion of preparing a terrorist crime. That reports the Public Prosecution Service Friday. The man is also suspected of ‘possession of weapons and the manufacture of (parts of) weapons and ammunition. He says he is a member of the extreme right -wing youth organization De Geuzenbond.
The AIVD told the police that the suspect would be willing to commit right-terrorist violence, after which the police started an investigation. On Friday, the suspect was brought before the examining magistrate in Rotterdam, who has decided that he will stay in pre-trial detention for two weeks. For a house search at the registration address of the suspect in the Brabant village of Erp, forbidden firearms and ammunition were found.
According to the OM, the Geuzenbond belongs to the so -called ‘Active clubs’groups that want to normalize right-wing extremist ideas. The Geuzenbond is classified as the extreme right by the National Coordinator of Terrorism and Security (NCTV). The Geuzenbond takes action for remigration and the organization uses the colors of the controversial prince flag in its logo.
