Pieter Heerma will start as of August 18 as the new chairman of the Safety Groningen Advisory College (ACVG). The Council of Ministers has agreed to this nomination. He succeeds Wim Nagtegaal, who says goodbye after 6 years.
ACVG
The Safety Groningen Advisory Course provides independent advice on the reinforcement operation. Gas extraction from the Groningerveld have created earthquakes. The ACVG advises on this to State Secretary for Marum of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
State Secretary Van Marum is delighted with the arrival of the new chairman: “Thanks to the arrival of Pieter Heerma, the ACVG remains at full strength. I thank Wim Nagtegaal for his efforts in recent years and wish Pieter every success in his new role.”
New chairman
Heerma is an experienced director with great social involvement. He studied political science at the VU University in Amsterdam. Heerma was a member of the Lower House between 2012 and 2023. In that period he had the social affairs and public housing portfolios. He was also a member of the Temporary Committee on the Breed Welfare Influence. Between 2019 and 2021, and between 2022 and 2023 he was the party leader of the CDA. Since June 2024, Heerma has been chairman of the Rent Committee, a role that he continues to fulfill in addition to the chairmanship of the ACVG.
Pieter Heerma: “The ACVG is a lecture that plays a crucial role for safety in Groningen. By advising independently and on a scientific basis, we strive for clarity and tranquility of residents. As chairman, I want Groningen people not only safe, but also feel safe in their home.”
