On Friday evening, a 34 man of 34 was arrested in Veldhoven in Noord-Brabant after that morning a woman was found dead in her home under suspicious circumstances. The police report this on Friday. The man turns out to be her husband.
Little is known about what happened in the home. The police have started investigating, which will continue on Saturday. The woman’s husband is suspected of involvement in what, according to the police, seems to have been a crime.
Twice in a week
Earlier this week, in a similar scenario, a 34-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of his 36-year-old partner. The woman was found dead in her home in Schiedam, where her daughter was also present at the time. The man had a house ban and the police had received several reports about a fight at the address, including the victim himself.
On average every eight days in the Netherlands a woman is killed by her (former) partner. In six out of ten women who have been murdered over the past ten years, the (former) partner was the suspected perpetrator. Last Thursday there was a big march against Femicide (murder) in Rotterdam, where the relatives of the victim from Schiedam also spoke.
