A 46-year-old man was arrested in Assen for threatening officers with an air gun. This happened after the man’s car appeared to be involved in an accident earlier that night.
The man’s car was involved in an accident earlier that night on the Oostersingel in Assen, in which a lamp post was reportedly hit. No other traffic was involved in the accident and the driver fled the scene. Around 4:30 am the police found the damaged car near the Zwartwatersweg in Assen.
When the officers wanted to talk to the owner of the car, the man ran into the house and loud bangs sounded from the house. The man then came out with an air gun with which he threatened the officers.
The man was arrested with guns drawn. The police have filed a report against the man. No one was injured.
