A 21-year-old man without a driver’s license was in a chase with the police in a stolen car in Berlin.

A civil patrol discovered a car that had been reported stolen in Neukölln early on Friday evening. When she wanted to check the driver and the car, he drove away on the Autobahn 100 in the direction of Hohenzollerndamm, the police said on Saturday.

There, the highway police asked the man to stop, but he fled the highway at excessive speed. He left the autobahn at the Kurfürstendamm exit and had to stop at a traffic light in the Halensee district because of cars parked there.

The police then stood in front of his car. While attempting to flee, the driver collided with a police vehicle. The forces arrested the 21-year-old. According to initial investigations, he did not have a valid driver’s license and was under the influence of drugs.

Among other things, the man has to answer for driving without a license and for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substances on the road.

He was released after his personal details were determined and blood was taken at a police station.
