A 41-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman from Best are arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of large-scale fraud. Their house and car company in Son en Breugel have been searched. The tax authorities seized 24 cars. It is estimated that they have fraud for nearly a million euros, reports the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD).
The 41-year-old man would purchase vehicles from abroad through auctions and then sell it again in the Netherlands. These cars are incorrectly processed as margin cars in the sales tax returns instead of VAT cars. This means that the seller has only paid VAT on the profit and not about the entire selling price. The Tax and Customs Administration estimates that these reports are 500,000 euros.
There would also be tampering with the BPM declarations. The entered cars were submitted with damage so that the value supposedly low. The cars actually had no damage. According to the tax authorities, these reports are 390,000 euros.
Valuation reports
The Tax and Customs Administration has previously revealed the 41-year-old man that his valuation reports were not in order and that he had to adjust his method. The reports were then submitted by the 49-year-old woman who probably has no knowledge of it. The man also fell through the basket because he himself could be seen in the reflection of the appraisal photos.
In addition to the two from Best, a 29-year-old man from the Gelderse municipality of Oude IJsselstreek has also been arrested. There too buildings were searched. What the role of the third suspect was exactly is unknown.
