Party makeup, what to do
When you imagine family party makeup, your thoughts go to a sober but refined make-up. «Make-up is not just a game of shapes and colors, but a real tool for expressing ourselves, even if we are with the people closest to us», she explains Paolo Guatelli, Makeup Designer and creator of Morfopsicomakeup.
«During family celebrations, the suggestion is aim for a look that is both refined and long-lastingbut above all in harmony with our authenticity.”
The right basis
To make the complexion uniform and resistant, we always start with skin care. «Before moving on to makeup, I always recommend a gentle cleansinga balancing moisturizing cream and a light primer, preferably hydrating”, says Paolo Guatelli.
«The base of our makeup must be a natural extension of the skin, not a mask. Choose the latest generation foundation, which integrate the skincare function, with active ingredients in functional doses. Formulas that “dialogue” with the complexion, uniforming it and keeping its characteristics and vitality evident.”
After carefully blending the foundation, move on to the fluid concealer. «Chosen a shade lighter than the unifying base, simply blend a few drops under the eyes, towards the cheekbones».
The powder, which must absolutely be micronized and non-occlusive, should be applied only where needed. «It must be a mattifying caress on the T-zone and on the eyelids, to guarantee resistance to the products applied subsequently, without “weighing it down”. The result is a complexion that transmits light and harmony, a reflection of an internal well-being that radiates outwards.”
If the focus is on the eyes
It starts with the eyebrows. «Essential in the harmony of the face, they should be enhanced delicately. If they are thin, define them with a special pencil with light touches, with thin strokes that imitate natural hair, so as to amplify their presence without distorting their essence.”

In the case of a thicker eyebrow arch, proceed with a light hand. «Fix them with a transparent protective serum, softening their lines. Always observe the space between the eyelid and the arch: if it is limited, do not thicken the eyebrows, because you risk excessively hardening the gaze”, underlines Paolo Guatelli.
«On the eyelids I suggest neutral and warm nuances that recall the light of the sunset: beige, dove grey, brown, combined however with touches of bright eyeshadows, especially in the inner corner».
«It is possible to apply the pencil to the base of the eyelashes first, then blend it and cover it with eyeshadow, which thus becomes a gradual puff of colour, whose function will be to enhance the volumes of the eyelids. Abundant mascara at the end will be an invitation to the gaze to open up to the world. The effect is a smiling, elegant eye, capable of speaking… without words!
Strategic light points
In this period the light on the face plays an important function. «It will represent our inner light. So a touch of strategic highlighter on the cheekbones, on the inner corner of the eye and on the Cupid’s bow of the lips is welcome.”
As a finishing touch, a cloud of light. «No to glitter! Opt instead for micro-crystals. Better if scented, to be blended on the face, hair and décolleté. They will become a symbol of that internal energy that shines within us, capable of making this moment of family gatherings even warmer and more welcoming”, concludes makeup designer Paolo Guatelli.
