Motorists who take to the road this weekend will face significant traffic disruption in Brabant. The A27 and A59 are partly closed from Friday evening to Monday morning due to work and part of the A58 has also been closed since Thursday.

The closures are necessary for various activities. On and around the Merwede Bridge, maintenance is carried out on the bridge joints, crash barriers and supports. The asphalt is being worked on the A59 during the weekend.

Rijkswaterstaat advises travelers not to go on the road if it is not necessary or to see if they can travel differently. If you do go on the road, take into account an additional travel time of thirty to sixty minutes.

Closure of A27: Friday evening 9 p.m. to Monday morning 5 a.m
The A27 will be closed this weekend between the Hooipolder junction and the Gorinchem junction towards Utrecht. In the direction of Breda, the highway is closed between the Gorinchem junction and the Werkendam junction (23). Diversions are indicated with yellow signs along the road.

  • Local traffic to and from Altena can drive via the Geertruidenberg connection (20) on the A27 to Werkendam (23).
  • Motorists from Utrecht towards Breda and vice versa are diverted via the A12, A20 and A16.
  • Traffic can also detour from the Gorinchem junction via the A15, A2 and A59.
  • Traffic towards Den Bosch is diverted from Utrecht via the A12, A27 and A2.
  • From junction Sunzeel traffic towards Den Bosch is diverted via the A16, A58 and A27.

During the work, one of the two cycle paths on the Merwede Bridge is always available for both directions. Cyclists can therefore simply cross the bridge during the weekend. However, they do have to take a detour for a few minutes.

The A59 will also be partly closed this weekend. The highway towards Den Bosch is closed between the Zonzeel junction and the Hooipolder junction.

  • Traffic from Dordrecht (A16) and Roosendaal (A58) towards Den Bosch is diverted via the A16, A58 and A27 to the A59.

Closure of A58: Thursday evening 9 p.m. to Monday morning 5 a.m
Finally, the A58 is partly closed. The highway towards Bergen op Zoom is closed between the De Stok junction and the Zoomland junction.

  • Traffic on the A17 from the Klaverpolder junction will be diverted via the A59 and the A4 towards Bergen op Zoom.
  • Traffic on the A58 from Breda is diverted via the A17, A59 and the A4 towards Bergen op Zoom.
