‘Cake can also be tasty without icing’

AMSTERDAM – “It was all or nothing… and it turned out to be nothing,” says Claire Petit, as she now looks back on her promising run on the Super G on the couch at home. At the World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway, she was on course last week to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Beijing. “But a bump before the penultimate gate threw me off balance, causing me to crash into that gate at eighty kilometers per hour.” That had dramatic consequences: with a broken collarbone, the 17-year-old Benjamin was removed from the para-ski team. “End of World Cup and away Games. But life must go on.”
