Mainz 05 without Onisiwo for the time being: striker suffers ligament injury

Three assists this season

1. FSV Mainz 05 will be without striker Karim Onisiwo for several weeks. As Rheinhessen announced on Tuesday, the 31-year-old suffered a ligament injury in his left ankle during the game against SV Darmstadt 98 (0-0). Depending on the healing process, he will be available again in December, it said.

Onisiwo has remained goalless in his nine appearances so far this Bundesliga season, but has recorded three assists. Overall, the attacker, who has been playing for Mainz since January 2016, has 32 goals and 29 assists in 193 first division games. His contract with the table 16th. runs until the end of June 2026. In order to be able to concentrate completely on the fight to stay in the league with the “zero fives”, Onisiwo recently ended his career in the Austria uniform. In his eight years at ÖFB he made 24 appearances and scored one goal.
