Danny da Costa is no longer one of the nine players at 1. FSV Mainz 05 whose contracts expire in the summer. The 32-year-old defender had an option in his working paper that automatically extended it by one year after a certain number of missions. This has now happened, reports the “Kicker”.
In the current season, Costa has appeared in 36 games for Mainz across all competitions. 27 times in the Bundesliga, where the right-footer scored two goals and three assists. The defender, who can be used both on the right and in the centre, missed 228 minutes – only 22 outfield players were on the pitch longer in the league.
