Moshtag B., the possible perpetrator of the deadly explosions in The Hague, grew up in a quiet family in Roosendaal. He lived here until a few years ago in his parental home in the Kortendijk district. Local residents react with shock and disbelief at his possible involvement in the devastating attack.
B. spent his entire childhood with his parents, two brothers and two sisters in a neat terraced house in Roosendaal. According to local residents, the family, which comes from Afghanistan, is known as ‘friendly and helpful’. “They are a bit introverted, but they always greet us politely. Moshtag was a quiet boy who spent a lot of time indoors and loved to study,” said a local resident who preferred not to be named.
The 33-year-old suspect now lives in Rotterdam where he owns several companies, including a gas station. In his youth he was a member of chess club De Pion in Roosendaal. “An old club magazine shows that he played here until he was thirteen. I personally have no special memories of the boy. It will be decided on December 24 whether their pre-trial detention will be extended.
