62-year-old stylist Maik de Boer expects that he only has a few months left to live. He has been focusing on friends and family lately. “To make memories.”
Maik de Boer has kept it a secret from the outside world lately, but unfortunately he is not doing well. The famous stylist only expects to live for a few months, he indicates in the Story. “He says he has had some special months. He spent a lot of time in his beloved Barcelona for a special reason.”
Maik fears death
Why? To say goodbye. “I wanted to make beautiful memories. Just in case I’m no longer here. I hope I can turn 63 in December. With the emphasis on hope.”
Maik has always known that he will die at the age of 63. And he celebrates his birthday on December 24, Christmas Eve. And then things can happen very quickly, he explains. “I am very afraid that I will die at that age. Just like my father back then…”
McDonald’s
Then what did his father die of? “He went into cardiac arrest in McDonald’s. The fear that the same thing will happen to me is very great.”
And that’s why Maik is now quietly waving goodbye. “Last summer, Maik asked many friends to come to Barcelona to spend time together,” reports the Story.
Work mode
Maik indicates that that is correct. A large gathering has been organised. “In the Netherlands, everyone is always in work mode. I didn’t want that. One weekend we gathered with a special group of friends.”
It was already over four years ago, Maik continues. A suspicious spot on his skin turned out to be a pre-cancerous stage, but fortunately he was caught quickly. “But your life still stands still for a moment.”
Nothing to worry about
All in all, pretty sad news. How long can we see Maik in person? A few months? Maybe another six months? Or until next fall?
Oh well, it won’t be too bad, Maik decides. “Somehow I know that nothing is wrong.”
