Maik Brüggemeyer is looking forward to Jerry Leger & The Situation

If there is one songwriter who has proven himself to be an absolute master of the classical form in recent years, it is Canadian Jerry Leger. From Lennonesque introspection to expressive R’n’B. If there is a band that has played its way delicately and powerfully through genres such as folk rock, rhythm & blues and soul in recent years, bringing back memories of old masters like The Band or Brinsley Schwartz, then it is his backing band The Situation .

With their new album “Donlands”, which will be released at the end of October, Jerry Leger & The Situation have recorded a record that will be at the top of the annual best lists, if not for eternity. Inspired by the atmospherically reverberated sound of producer Mark Howard, who was previously instrumental in albums such as Bob Dylan’s “Time Out Of Mind”, “Real Gone” by Tom Waits and “A World Without Tears” by Lucinda Williams, they take us into one surreal dream in which Roy Orbison pours out his heart to a few lost film noir characters in the bar of the Heartbreak Hotel.
