Why was a 23-year-old man shot in February at the Professor Regoutstraat in Oss? And by whom? In an attempt to answer these questions, the police shared the identity of the victim. It’s about the Chinese man Maihemuti Yisikandaier.

On Monday evening, February 10, Maihemuti was shot at the basement boxes under an apartment complex. But what exactly happened there is still unclear.

The emergency services received a report that evening around half past ten from a resident who had heard bangs. There were bullet holes in a window near the basement boxes. The day after the shooting, the police raided nearby.

The police would like to get more answers to questions about the man’s death. That is why more information about his identity has now been shared. The police hope to get more clarity about where the man was in January and February.

‘All puzzle pieces are important’
The 23-year-old Maihemuti is of Oyigoerse descent. He was born in China and later emigrated to Turkey. How he ended up in the Netherlands is not clear. The police know that he has already stayed in the Biddinghuizen, Ter Apel, Enschede, Oss and Oosterhout area. He did not have a permanent place of residence.

The police hope that people who knew him or have given shelter have more information. “We collect and analyze information in all sorts of ways. In this study, all puzzle pieces are important for the research team to get a complete picture of what has happened now,” the police report.
