“Magnum” star: Roger E. Mosley is dead

He was a helicopter pilot in Hawaii, abstained from alcohol and was always at the side of Tom Selleck’s character Thomas Magnum: TC from the series “Magnum”. Actor Roger E. Mosley rose to fame with the role in the 1980s. The 83-year-old has now passed away.

Mosley died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from injuries sustained in a car accident three days earlier, his daughter told The Hollywood Reporter. According to a Facebook post, the “Magnum” star “passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.”

He fought for TC

Overall, Mosley appeared in 158 of the 162 episodes of “Magnum.” He is said to have Selleck himself to thank for the role. In 1973, the two made the prison film Terminal Island together, Selleck recalled and suggested producer Mosley for the role of TC.

The actor always fought for his character. Originally, the scriptwriters wanted TC to struggle with financial problems as a pilot. That was out of the question for Mosley. He didn’t want to be “the only black person in Hawaii and then broke.” That’s why you changed your mind. Magnum was now the character with money problems.

Roger E. Mosley is survived by three children and his wife Toni Laudermick.
