Magnet fishermen find stolen jewelry belonging to 90-year-old Ginnie from Erica

Nick de Boer often encounters special things while metal fishing. But a bag full of jewelry? No, that is also unique for the Klazienavener.

Behind the bag appears to be a special story, because it contained a locket of the deceased husband of the now 90-year-old Ginnie Oost from Erica. “It’s great that we were able to do this,” says Nick.

It was certainly a remarkable find, more than two weeks ago now. On Saturday, May 27, Nick was unsuspectingly metal fishing with his girlfriend Carmen. A hobby of both, now for about five years. Because you come across striking things every time, says Nick. “We already found a gun, but something like this? No, this is really special.”

They found a plastic bag containing the jewelry under the old tram bridge in Klazienaveen. “We thought it was garbage at first, but it turned out to be jewelry,” says Nick. They turned out to have been stolen from the house of the then 83-year-old Ginnie seven years earlier, in 2016. A very sad, traumatic event. All the jewelry that Ginnie kept in her nightstand had been stolen.
