Magdeburg submits in European League

The SC Magdeburg handball players can continue to dream of successfully defending their title in the European League.

Two days after the 21:28 bankruptcy in the DHB cup final against THW Kiel, the Bundesliga leaders prevailed in the quarter-final first leg on Tuesday evening at HBC Nantes with 28:25 (11:13) and are going into the second leg with a good starting position next Tuesday (8.45 p.m.) in Magdeburg.

The best thrower from Magdeburg, who eliminated Sporting Lisbon in the round of 16, was Omar Ingi Magnusson with six goals. Only shortly before the end did Magdeburg pull away decisively in an entertaining game.

Last year’s finalist Füchse Berlin and TBV Lemgo Lippe were eliminated in the round of 16. Last season three German teams reached the semi-finals, and in the past 17 editions of the competition the winner only once did not come from Germany.
