“I passed out on my bathroom floor & woke up in the ICU,” she says.
In June 2023, Madonna was hospitalized and required treatment in the intensive care unit. As she did at a concert in Belgium in October, during her gig at the Barclays Center in New York on December 16th, she spoke about the time when she was so sick that she had to rely on the help of her loved ones and her friend her ““Had to be dragged to the hospital”, which is said to have ultimately saved her life.
Madonna fainted in the bathroom
Madonna once again shared insights into the period of her illness because, according to her, “a very important woman” who “dragged” her to the hospital was present in the audience at the New York performance. Siobhan, as the person is called, actually saved the artist. “I don’t even remember it, I passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU,” Madonna told the crowd.
To lighten the mood afterwards, she joked: “By the way, I almost had to die to get all my kids in one room – I know, that’s a bit funny.”
At first it was unclear what the 65-year-old’s health was like. It seemed like it wasn’t just the public, as Madonna declared during a concert in Belgium on October 21st that not only was her survival “a damn miracle,” but also that many people no longer believed in it. It is now known that the musician suffered from a serious bacterial infection.
“I don’t take anything for granted”
During the gig in New York, Madonna went on to say that she was put into an induced coma for two days and the “only voice” she heard during that time was that of her Kabbalah teacher. And she doesn’t just call her survival a “damn miracle” – she also calls the fact that she was able to go on the tour after her hospital stay a miracle.
Finally, she shared her reflection that “crazy f***ing things happen” so that “we realize what other people are going through.” And she let New Yorkers know, “I don’t take any of this for granted.”
In mid-October 2023, Madonna started her “The Celebration” tour in London. Four concerts also took place in Germany. She made her first stop in Cologne on November 15th and 16th and came to Berlin for two more gigs on November 28th and 29th.
