MAD Lions remain in contention for the playoffs of the European League of Legends league LEC. The defending champion broke his losing streak and defeated Team Vitality with a dominant performance.
“We played without expectations. That helped us a lot,” said MAD’s Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla in the post-match interview. “Today was a good game. We proved that we can do a lot more than we’ve shown in the last few weeks.”
After six defeats in a row, MAD was on the verge of making the playoffs. Another defeat would mean the end. The defending champion then put in a flawless performance against Vitality and confidently clinched the necessary victory.
Excel Esports, on the other hand, was just one win away from qualifying for the knockout stage for the first time in the organization’s history. But G2 Esports thwarted Excel and initially prevented the team from making the playoffs.
The surprise of the day came from SK Gaming: The team played strongly against leaders Rogue and thus intensified the fight for the remaining positions for the playoffs.
