Ronald Koeman, Netherlands coach, has assured this Monday that Luuk de Jong, formerly of FC Barcelona and currently in the ranks of the PSV Eindhoven, leader of the 2023-24 Eredivisie, has asked him again not to be called up on the next FIFA date. The one who was a Barça striker in the 2021-22 season, under the orders of Koeman himself, has alleged that he has two small children and, in addition to resting, wants to be with his family.

Koeman added that “maybe Luuk should have said louder that he wasn’t available. But I called him later anyway, whether he said yes or no. So we agreed that if he changes his mind he would call me.” The forward did offer to play if the Netherlands reached the final phase of Euro 2024.
