“I was rejected by so many clubs,” said Andros Townsend in a very open interview at the end of September about his desperate situation as a clubless professional after the end of his contract with Everton FC. “People gave me false hope. I thought clubs would want to sign a player with my experience, but after my cruciate ligament injury, no club would take the risk.” Now a club has been found for the 32-year-old winger and he’s back in the Premier League: newly promoted Luton Town.
Townsend has signed with the “Hatters” until the end of the year. At the club from the city north of London, the 13-time English international will be able to use his experience from 264 games in the English upper house (25 goals/35 assists) for Everton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers in the fight against relegation and Tottenham Hotspur bring in.
Luton, which has by far the lowest squad value in the Premier League at just under 90 million euros, took four points from the first eight games.
