President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he would be “eternal president” if the West continues to “attack” the republic. He said this during a visit to the Osipovichsky training ground, where the Allied Resolve exercises are being held jointly with Russia, transmits BelTA.

Lukashenko already made a similar statement in October 2021. Then he said that his term as president would depend on the actions of Western countries and the degree of their aggressiveness towards the republic. The Belarusian president stated that he would remain in his post forever if the West “dropped bombs” and denied Belarus its independence and identity.

At the same time, Lukashenka has repeatedly said that he will leave “very soon” and give way to a new generation. In mid-January, he promised the Belarusians “normal people” to run the country. According to him, it is important to allow a new generation to come to power, but this must be done “without noise and without dust.” At the same time, the citizens of the republic will not elect a “random president”, as was the case in the mid-1990s. They will pay attention to his experience, Lukashenka noted.
