The goalkeeper of Huahkaji Lukas Hradecky represented by Bayer Leverkusen has appointed a former Spanish national team star as the new head coach Xabi Alonso.

The German club announced that the current coach Gerardo Seoane is allowed to get out of the way of the 40-year-old Alonso. The reason is the club’s poor success.

The team is second last in the Bundesliga after eight rounds. The season started in August with three consecutive losses. Hradecky has started in all but one game with a goal. In that match too, the Finnish goalkeeper was on the sidelines after receiving a red card in the previous game.

Alonso’s coaching began after his playing career ended in 2017. After that, he was the junior coach of Real Madrid and the coach of Real Sociedad’s B team. The contract with Leverkusen covers until 2024.

Alonso won the Champions League twice with Real Madrid and Liverpool. He is also the world champion from 2010.
