The Italian fashion retailer Luisaviaroma extends its e-commerce model. In the future, its online platform will also serve as a digital marketplace for independent Italian multi-brown boutiques.
On Tuesday, the company presented its new “strategic partnership” with the online fashion platform The DEBS and the organization Camera Buyer Italia, the advocacy of the Italian multimarken store. The aim of the cooperation is “the creation of the first authentic Italian luxury marketplace,” says a message. With a new online platform, the previously “fragmented landscape” of the Italian luxury fashion sales should be transformed into a “uniform, globally competitive ecosystem”.
The existing platform from Luisaviaroma will serve as the basis. As part of a pilot phase that will start in the coming months, selected Italian boutiques will be given the opportunity to present themselves independently and offer their products. Luisaviaroma is thus developing its e-commerce business model from a pure online retailer to the marketplace operator.
However, the “visionary project” is more than just another online marketplace, emphasized Luisaviaroma in a message. “It is a new strategic and industrial pact for the future of Italian fashion.”
