Lucien Favre cancels Borussia Mönchengladbach – does not want to go to Germany

Don’t want to go to Germany

Contrary to what was last reported, Lucien Favre will not return to Borussia Mönchengladbach. Sports director Roland Virkus denied an upcoming agreement with the 64-year-old at the general meeting. Both “Bild” and “Sky” reported the deal a week and a half ago as almost perfect.

“Lucien Favre has Borussia in his heart, but no longer wants to work in Germany. You can be sure that we have done everything, but I don’t think Lucien Favre will be the coach at Borussia for the next two years,” Virkus said when asked by a fan on Monday.

Status: After the 2021/22 season

After the 34th matchday, the Bundesliga team parted ways with Adi Hütter, who had only come to Borussia from Eintracht Frankfurt before the season. Then Favre, who worked for the “foals” between 2011 and 2015, came into focus, but the announcement, which was actually considered fixed, was a long time coming.

Now the question of the new head coach is completely open again, Vincent Kompany, who will leave RSC Anderlecht, was recently brought into play as an emergency plan. Virkus emphasized on Monday that they wanted to take the necessary time with the decision. “It is essential for the future of the club that we make the right decision when it comes to coaching. We have drawn up a clear requirement profile and are currently in talks with several candidates,” says the 55-year-old.
