Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami are celebrating 20 years of collaboration by launching a major new edition of their collection.

The first collaboration was initiated by Marc Jacobs, who was then the artistic director of Louis Vuitton. One of the highlights of this collection at the time was a reinterpretation of the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram pattern, revised for the first time in its history. The new Louis Vuitton × Murakami collection is a “joyful and celebratory new edition that reinterprets and updates the original collection,” says Louis Vuitton. The line includes city bags, silk scarves and scarves, sunglasses, costume jewelry, shoes and perfumes.

Each product in the 200-piece collection is intended to represent the combination of the culture of craftsmanship and savoir-faire with technological progress. Highlights include the Monogram Multicolore, which features interlocking LV and floral motifs in 33 different colors used on the many emblematic city bags, belts, wallets, wedge espadrilles and the rolling trunk.

The new edition of Louis Vuitton x Murakami is accompanied by a comprehensive visual concept, ranging from window displays to pop-ups and pop-ins to in-store activations and its own advertising campaign. The first chapter of Louis Vuitton × Murakami, which includes 170 new creations, will be available from January 1, 2025.

A second chapter will be published in March 2025 and will focus on the artist’s cherry blossom pattern, perfect for spring.
