Louis Vuitton travels to Barcelona for Cruise collection

Louis Vuitton has chosen Barcelona as its next destination.

The Catalan capital was chosen for the French luxury fashion house’s Cruise 2025 collection, Louis Vuitton announced on Tuesday. The fashion show is part of a series of collaboration projects with Barcelona that are to follow.

On May 23rd Nicolas Ghesquière, creative director of women’s fashion at Louis Vuitton, will present the Cruise collection at an as yet undisclosed location in the city. The brand also organizes the America’s Cup Barcelona sailing regatta and its qualifying event, the Louis Vuitton Cup, which takes place in the summer. Collaborative exhibitions, cultural activities and a ‘City Guide’ for Barcelona with a pop-up kiosk will accompany the events.

“The upcoming Cruise fashion show, which reflects Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière’s vision for the women’s collection, as well as the upcoming Louis Vuitton Cup and the 37th America’s Cup, will undoubtedly express Louis Vuitton’s long-standing relationship with Barcelona and the Catalan region in the ultimate way bring,” said Louis Vuitton CEO Pietro Beccari.

The fashion house, which began as a suitcase manufacturer, also emphasizes its long-standing local presence through six leather goods workshops in the Spanish region of Catalonia, known for its tradition of leather crafts.

The ‘art of travel’ has long been at the heart of the brand’s work – and not just because of the product range that makes traveling easier. Previous cruise collections were held in Palm Springs, California, in the Brazilian city of Niterói or on the Isola Bella presented on Lake Maggiore, Italy.
