Emergency services received a report of the fire at 11.37 am, and an adjacent apartment was then evacuated as a precaution, a spokesperson for the safety region told NH.
The resident was ‘safely outside’, the spokesperson said, and was checked by ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation.
From medium to large fire
Initially, a ‘medium fire’ was assumed because the house is located in the center of the city center. Shortly afterwards the fire brigade scaled up to a ‘major fire’. “This is standard because it turned out that it was an apartment complex,” the spokesperson said.
Just before noon the fire ‘seemed to be under control’. Despite the smoke, no alarm was issued by the fire brigade to close windows, doors and ventilation systems.
The cause of the fire is unknown because the fire brigade has yet to complete its extinguishing work. An investigation into the cause will then start.
